I decided to use them for my wedding hair and Makeup since I had been getting my nails done with Mindy at Bear Nails inside Bella Luxe for years.
I had trials booked for Aug 19th. I slept through half of the hair trial and missed it but called and cancelled my make up trial very short notice. I was asked to pay a no show fee of 50$ for the hair which I paid and then I had to ask how to give the MUA a no show fee because I felt bad.
They told me it was fine and that I didn’t need the trials. The MUA then messaged me saying I, in fact, did need a trial but barely responded and I just booked it myself online. I booked it for Sept 13th and my wedding was Sept 22nd.
I was late for my trial because of construction, I texted giving warning and was told to still come in and we would do a trial of my eye make up. I know it's my fault I was late and fully understand why the MUA fired me as a client.
However, she did the trial and took payment and tip, then helped me pick out a lipstick via text. In the evening I realized I didn’t really find the make up suited me and asked if we could do my eyes more dramatic and offered to do and pay for another trial, and I emphasized it had nothing to do with her makeup skills. The MUA then informed me that because I No showed to the first trial (I didn’t, I just cancelled short notice) and was late for the 2nd she wasn't comfortable doing my makeup.
Okay cool, but if you were going to fire me for being late you should have done so when I arrived late instead of doing a rushed trial and waiting until the evening when I couldn’t even start looking for a new MUA.
The next day a large infection started on my cheek. Like an abscess the size of a small kiwi appeared under my skin overnight. Yes, I have bad acne but that is on my forehead and chin, It’s never been on my cheek and this wasn’t acne or a product reaction, it was an infection and a bad one. I was put on 2 different strong antibiotics and an extra strength prescription antibiotic cream and my cheek will likely be scarred for the rest of my life. Did I tell the salon about it right away? No, I waited until after my wedding because I was scared Hair would also fire me.
So on my big day, Hair showed up and asked where MUA was as if she didn’t know why she wasn’t there. I told her I didn’t want to make her uncomfortable by talking about it and she insisted I tell her. I told her the story, and I told I had hoped the MUA wouldn’t have noticed and cancelled the facial I had booked a few days prior because I was angry about having my time and money wasted from the trial and then where the MUA wasted that whole business day that I could have been calling other salons since she only sent me the message after business hours. Hair was willingly a part of the conversation. She laughed with us and she contributed as well.
So on sept 24 I msgd the salon asking what was used on my face because I “must have had a reaction and now have a bad infection on my face”. As someone who has been in the industry, I know product reactions cannot give you an infection. Contaminated hands, tools or product do. I assumed the owner would catch on to this because you never know who is answering their social media, and I didn’t want to blatantly say “your MUA gave me an infection” in case the MUA was the one answering.
They owner replied this AM. The infection on my face was brushed off since I didn’t tell them 24 to 48 hours after the service.
I was then told about my no-showing and being late, which again I know I’m at fault. The owner did not ask me for my side, she basically told me I was rude and that hair told her what we said and that hair was made uncomfortable.
The ending of the owners message was banning me from the salon and the owner sent me a photo of the makeup products that were used that look pretty grubby to me.
I have filed a formal complaint with the cosmetology association as there is obviously a sanitization issue since I got an
