Ordered a couch and chair set. Put 10% down, as agreed with the salesperson, to obtain VIP pricing. Paperwork was to be completed 4 days hence and delivery scheduled. Upon arrival at the store after 4 days and having paid in full for the items, we were informed that the chair was no longer available. The explanation given by the store supervisor was that placing a deposit on an item does not reserve it on hold. This came as a surprise to us as it is not common sales practice. In spite of that, we might have understood had it not been for the approach taken by the supervisor to our request for a fuller explanation. That approach was condescending and intimated that it was we who were in the wrong and we should have known better. There was no sense that any remedial action other than refunding our money would be taken. There was no understanding that as the senior responsible agent, that person represented the face of the company. In that role, the correct approach would have been to acknowledge the failure of the company to properly explain its sales policies and to agree to raise this fact, with senior management, as a weakness that needed to be remedied. Instead, we were made to feel as though we were in the wrong and, in fact, were told to go and sit down while the refund paperwork was processed. This one individual and the purchasing situation described above, has tainted our view of the Brick. No longer will we be 'VIP's" or will we make any further purchases at your stores. We will also be active anti-Brick spokespeople.
