My daughter was given a pair of jogging pants for Christmas that didn’t fit. I was going to exchange them and was told that since the bar code was removed from the tag that I could not exchange them. I had a receipt and the tags were still attached. I took them to Scarborough Town Center and they exchanged them without an issue. I was also told by the sales associate at Scarborough Town Center that I should have been able to make an exchange with just a receipt.

I purchased a top as a Christmas gift for my Grand daughter from West49 store in Bramalea City Centre. Unfortunately, it did not fit. Today being the first day when exchanges can be done, I took the top back to the store expecting a simple exchange. I was told it could not be exchanged as the tags were removed. I explained I do not give out gifts with the price attached but I was also retuning the tag. The salesperson who identified herself as the assistant manager said the tags had to attached, I suggested she attach them as they were there available for her, but her reply was no it is store policy they must come attached. I again stated as it was a gift the tag was removed as it had the price on it. She then told me I should have covered up the price. The number of times I heard “store policy” made me sick. She told me there was no way to no if it had been worn or washed. I would say that anyone in the position of assistant manager should be able to determine that. I would have returned it sooner but “store policy “ was no exchanges or returns on the 26Th, 27th or 28th.
