Terrible experience. Service guys where a little rude and now I know why. I had just purchased a 2008 Volvo xc70 and required a dash language change from French to English. Being from B.C. I wanted my dash in English to better understand all the little messages that pop up. Having spoken to a representative from another dealership I knew the software was free and just needed to know the cost of the install. So I contacted Brossard Volvo and spoke to a Service Rep. He told me that it was quite expensive and said I had to contact the Parts Dept. to find out the price. He was unable to tell me how long it would take to install. So I contacted the Parts Dept. and asked about the language change. The parts rep. told me it would be quite expensive since I was an Anglophone. He said, and I quote..."Since we live in Quebec and I am changing the language from French to English there would be a charge for the software of 187.00 + download time + tax + install time + tax...but, if I was changing the language from English to French it would be a free install" So, for this free software (I contacted Volvo head office and was told the software is free for all dealers no matter what the language) Brossard Volvo was going to charge me $187.00 + for the language change. obviously a rip off and a prejudice against Anglophones. I wonder what other ripoffs they are doing...especially to English speaking clients. I went to Uptown Volvo in Montreal, they changed the language from French to English and Washed my car all for $44.50. I'll never go back to Brossard Volvo - I don't trust them.
