We used this company last month for our move; I discussed the rate weeks ahead and emphasized to the owner, Paul, we need professionals since it’s a brand new house and we don’t want things get damaged, and he assured me he would send experienced professionals and there won’t be any issues.
1. They call us the night before that need to come in an hour earlier in the morning because they committed to some other job later in the day; we told them it won’t be possible because we have strict 3 hour timeline to use the elevator by our previous landlord and can’t change the time unfortunately, and they said no issued we’ll manage.
2. Two gentlemen that came in, took their time for the first 2 hours of the move, with multiple breaks etc. so when it came to loading off the items at the new house they realized they’re going be late for their other job, so they picked up a third person to helped them out; I noticed they’re putting three four boxes on top of each other on the trolley, fragile non-fragile, rushing and bumping to things, I asked them to please slow down, we don’t want things get damaged. I even helped them as a 4th person.
3. Even though we spoke with the workers ahead of time, telling them about the box with the fragile items, with a big Fragile note on it, when we opened the boxes some of our dishes and vase were broken. (even though they were individually bubble wrapped).
4. I explicitly told the workers to take their shoes off when entering the new house or use a matt; I explained this is a new house, we don’t want the hardwood to get damaged etc. Out of negligence or forgetfulness they forgot and went in with their boots on the hardwood and even on the carpet; and sadly damaged the hardwood (photos attached)
5. They told me because they picked up a third person the rate is now 25% more. When I protested they charged us half an hour more to compensate for that 3rd person’s fee; even though this was solely due to them getting late for their next job, we had to take care of the cost of the additional worker. The way they had the work coordinated having a 3rd person wasn’t as efficient (one person inside the house one person outside).
6. The worst part of this dealing was when we unwrapped our furnitures. Damaged bed frame, damaged couch leg, damaged coffee table etc.
7. Ever since I’ve spoken with the owner, Paul, about the issues twice, sent him photos, detail summary of damages, cost that we now have to bare to fix the hardwood and replace the damaged pieces; he assures me that he will take care of the issues and remedy the problem but nothing was done to this date 3-4 weeks past. Over our last communication he states that he had to come back to the house and see the damages again but that has not happened over the past 3 weeks.
8. I will raise the issues to whatever authorities I can. When I pay $700-800 fee for 3-4 hour labour work I expect professionalism, work quality and reliability, and these guys lack all of those qualities. I do not recommend them; Take my advice, save yourself the trouble and hassle and look for another company.
