Reviews of Ridgeline Improvements Ltd in Edmonton

We hired M*** W**** of Ridge Line Improvements to renovate our bungalow. In the beginning everything seemed to be going well, except he failed to supply us with a copy of the contract, even after repeated requests for a copy he has refused to produce one. It all went bad after they finished the bathroom and M*** had decided not to install all the ordered fixtures. When asked to install all the fixtures that's when things went downhill, phone calls were no longer answered, texts were no longer responded to. We also started noticing substandard workmanship such as the bathroom fan that was installed and vented directly into the attic without being vented through the roof. When asked about this he said that's the way he did all his jobs. I ended up venting it through the roof myself. The wireing that was done, which had a $3680.00 extra charge added to the job quote, was not inspected. Some of the wireing entailed running tv cable. His master electrician spliced the tv cable to a discarded piece of cable in the attic not hooked up to anything. I ended up redoing this myself, makes me wonder how good the wireing was done especially since it wasn't inspected. As far as the extra billing is concerned, one of his extras was for a picture window and front and back doors. The extra cost for these was $5900 even though they were included in the original job quote? When asked about this we were told we upgraded the doors. Since M*** refused to show any receipts to substantiate his billing, I took it upon myself to price out the difference between basic 32" doors and the fancier ones we ordered from the same manufacturer. The difference came to $1170, a far cry from $5900. I think that all the extras he billed us are full price not extra price. Don't know because M*** refuses to show any detailed billing, the contract, or receipts for extras. A complaint was filed with Service Alberta and we were informed by Service Alberta that he is not licensed as a pre-pay contractor. I would suggest contacting Service Alberta before hiring him. At the end of the job we were waiting for a replacement cabinet door that had been damaged, M*** showed up at our door, dropped off the door without installing it and said he had gone out of business and got a job with the city of Edmonton. That was a lie and the door didn't fit! I had to deal with the cabinet company myself and order a new door and install it myself.
