If I could make this review 100 stars, I would. Just recently, my sister lost her only 18 month Grandson unexpectedly. The little guy was full of swagger with the ladies, and a pure gentlemen in training. To say the least the family was overwhelmed by a tsunami of grief. I had flew out across 5 provinces to support them through this hellish time. I knew I needed to get my nephew’s son back to him as soon as possible. My nephew was in AB, and his little boy was in BC. This was such a complex situation and I had never organized a funeral. At first it felt extremely daunting, but I knew I just needed to keep moving forward.
I called Amy to find out how this worked, and pricing. I have dealt with many companies, contractors and organizations before, but I can tell you that Amy should be teaching them all how to assist their customers. First, she listened. And not a “yeah, yeah, yeah listen”, but a full engagement listen to our complex situation. Then she suggested through options for all steps of the way. She sent me a full breakdown of the steps that we could take, including some choice options to discuss with my nephew. It was so simple, and at this point with assisting a devasted grieving family literally on the other side of this great country, I could not ask for more.
And solution focused! There was never a moment where I felt we were stuck. If things did not go as expected, no problem. Amy was so quick to communicate openly, and let us know. She had several options, which she always presented in professional manner, which we were able to make informed decision so quickly. Also, the service was supported so well with amazing hours of availability to answer all your questions and other team members to back up Amy. Thank you Haline and Terance for backing up Amy along the way!
And then the personal touch, which makes me tear up each time I tell the story of their kindness. You see we did not have access to my sister’s grandson clothes, or things. Amy did something that after the darkness our family faced and honestly at a moment where I could not see how any silver lining could come of this, she renewed the light in humanity for me. On their own accord, they had bought a giraffe stuffy and large fuzzy blanket for my nephew’s 18 month son. They did not have to do that, it was not in our contract, and at that point, I just did not think of these details. Amy restored my faith in humanity that day. Thank you Amy, for not just helping a beautiful little boy transition to the other side, but also showing me that in the face of darkness, light can shine though so brightly though the kindness of just one person. Thank you again Amy.
So, if you are in market for a funeral home, first of all I am so sorry for your loss. And second, there is no better hands that you will be in than at First Memorial Funeral Services. Honest, solution focused, caring, transparent the entire way, professional but with such compassion. They will provide the quality of death that your loved one deserves. 100 stars is not enough.
