Reviews of Glen Valley Stables in Langley

I am an experienced English rider who was going to ride in a western saddle for the first time. I must say, it wasn’t a good experience.

First off, we payed quite a lot for just walking. I get that beginners can get scared and need to get looked after so that they get a good experience, but in other places you can often go in separate groups and go for a little trot and canter, but it wasn’t like that here.
Second of all… I was shocked when I noticed the incredibly harsh bits. These bits won’t do anything but harm the horse, which it clearly did since I found scars around the mouth caused by the bit. The horse was very uncomfortable and I did my best to touch the reins as little as possible.
I would suggest using milder bits or possibly go bitless. Another suggestion is to use chains on the bits since they have an extreme leverage effect. It shouldn’t do anything different except that the horses will be more comfortable.
Other than that it was a nice ride, wonderful weather and surroundings. But the bits are a real problem.
