Reviews of Leals Dog Training & Boarding in Laval

I hate writing bad reviews but this needs to be said...
Our dog did one week of training and one week of boarding. I honestly would not recommend this trainer to anyone. His training methods are outdated and harmful to dogs, he uses chokers and e-collars as the only corrective method. When we went to go pick up our dog he was yanking our dog so hard our dog was coughing and choking. Our dog was so scared.
He also made us force our dog to do commands which created a more stressful and fearful dog. When he used the choke collar to correct our dog we could see the fear in our dogs eyes. Our dog was traumatized and we will never return to this trainer. I was under the impression that there would be other correction methods used that's why I was okay with leaving our dog with him. The trainer also said that he could not do any off leash training with our dog without the e-collar (shock collar) which is ridiculous because there are so many different methods he could have used that would not cause our dog pain..... He made us yank our dog (choking him) when he showed us recall and he told us not to stop till our dog came to us terrified and being choked. He wants the dogs to be scared of what's going to happen to them if they dont listen which was so hard to watch.

I also asked for our dog to have a bath before we picked him up. Our dog was filthy and his blanket and bed smelt so gross when we picked him up. For some reason though our dogs paw pads were shaved, we did not ask for this. He could get our dogs paw pads shaved but couldn't give him a bath which is what we asked for...

Bottom line, if you are looking to get your dog trained I would avoid this place and look for other places where they use updated and scientifically proven methods that are humane (Positive Reinforcement and Negative punition). For boarding only, I'm sure he takes good care of the dogs and he let them play outdoor as much as possible which is the only thing we really liked about the place at the end.
No idea why there are so many 5 star reviews.... we will be doing more and more detailed research in the future so this does not happen again. We want our dog to enjoy training.
