In late 2019, I hired Grossi Plumbing & Heating to install a new Bosch dishwasher. My invoice expressly states, "install customer supplied dishwasher... as per customer request". It does not state, "provide plumbing connection only".

Two technicians took HOURS. And - get this - a plumbing connection was already in-place from an older dishwasher the technicians removed.

Here's what's unbelievable... The technicians finished the job without securing the dishwasher to the Formica countertop or to the sidewalls of the cabinet. The first time I opened the dishwasher door, the entire unit tipped forward.

I then met with two Grossi supervisors - including Heating Supervisor Brian Ford. They agreed there was a problem. When a technician returned, he attached the dishwasher to the particleboard underside of the Formica countertop with two, quarter-inch screws. Yes, quarter-inch screws into particleboard. Not surprisingly, after opening the dishwasher door a few dozen times, the screws fell out.

Subsequently, I again met with Brian Ford. I presented the two, quarter-inch screws and a sample of the particleboard. When I asked why quarter-inch screws were used to attempt to secure the dishwasher - an effort destined to fail - I will never forget Mr. Ford's response: "We work with what we find". I did not provide the quarter-inch screws. Neither were there any sitting in my kitchen. Presumably, quarter-inch screws were all the technician had in his van.

To my astonishment, Mr. Ford then informed me that nothing more would be done to remedy the situation. I then requested that my complaint be elevated to one of Grossi's owners. I was told, yes, this would be done.

Months later, the meeting never materialized. Did I receive a phone call from Mr. Ford about a delay in the meeting, or when it might take place? No.

On August 31, 2020 - nine months after the initial "installation" - I returned to Grossi Plumbing. Brian Ford greeted me. From his demeanour, it seemed he'd forgotten who I was. I reminded him. He then committed, again, to set up a meeting with one of Grossi's owners.

I declined. Sorry... There's one thing I am not: A sucker. Enough is enough.

For the entire month of September, I picketed outside of Grossi Plumbing. Perhaps a public shaming will affect Grossi's take-the-money-and-run behaviour. The video link above shows the "installation" I was left with. For this, I paid HUNDREDS of dollars.

No, I have not been offered a refund. In fact, I have been contacted by a lawyer for Grossi Plumbing, accusing me of making "unfounded and unsubstantiated claims" and "defamatory statements" here and on other consumer-review platforms.

I have documentation. I have witnesses. Every word I have written is true. Brian Ford, for one, knows it. As if this were not enough, I'm a retiree on a modest fixed income who receives the Guaranteed Income Supplement. Grossi Plumbing is a major commercial firm that works throughout Windsor-Essex County. A refund of what I am owed would be lunch money for this firm. Who are these people? Unbelievable.

Finally, thanks to all who honked their horns, waved, or gave me the "thumbs up" when driving by my picket. Apparently, I am not the only one Grossi Plumbing has taken to the cleaners.
