Dr. S**** (aka - M***) is one of the absolute WORST doctors in Toronto. Sure, he can find out what's wrong with you right away...when he wants to/when it's convenient for him, and of course he has constant mood swings, too many patients he barely cares about, etc., but my problem stems from the way he treats me because of my mental illness. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Agoraphobia. Because of this, I have a hard time leaving my house. While of course it is hard to go to the doctor, S**** didn't seem to mind at first. In fact, he's the one who diagnosed my problem and even told me that I could have my prescription renewed by calling him if I didn't feel comfortable coming in yet. Right now, I am on medication for my anxiety and am working with a mental health clinic to help me with my agoraphobia. Since it's still hard to get to the doctor, I called to ask to have my prescription renewed (I only have a month's worth left. He then proceeded to be a "arsehole" over the phone saying the following, "I'm not renewing your prescription anymore. I already signed that paper for your health card (cause of my agoraphobia). Enough is enough, and if you don't like it, you can find another doctor." What I would like to point out is that I've been on this anxiety medication for over 4 years, and if you suddenly stop taking the medication and go cold turkey, you can get EXTREMELY sick. It is also known to be not safe when quitting a narcotic for any illness because it can cause problems. Apparently, Mr S**** doesn't understand this, and would like to be discriminatory against my illness and also leave me to get sick, which is the opposite of what actual doctors do. I'm appalled by his behaviour considering I've known him since I was a young kid (I'll be 21 in May). Ladies and Gentlemen, if you're considering going to this doctor for any type of medication/illness, please be prepared to have a large order of ignorance, discrimination, and carelessness thrown in your face. Oh, and in case you were wondering how this story is ending - both my mother and I left him a message and "politely" told him we will be taking legal action against him if he does not renew this prescription. While a doctor can stop prescribing you narcotics, I am not abusing my medication and I need this medication for my anxiety and if I do not have it, I will become violently ill from the withdrawal. Just a heads up.
