I'd give zero stars if i could. My wife drives an older car and had a medical appointment in Montreal so she decided to rent a car for the day to go there. The reservation was pre-paid using Air Miles. Lo and behold when we got to the airport the staff was extremely rude suggesting that my wife's driver's license was fake (Quebec license issued one month before they instituted the holograms) refused to honour the reservation and went so far as to call the police over a customer service issue.

To make matters worse they have yet to return the Air Miles used to make the reservation. Not only are they rude they're thieves too.

Prior to covid we traveled frequently and have rented from Budget in many countries and have been satisfied customers......not any more, they've lost a customer for life.

This was our first time doing car rental and we extremely cheated. We had reserved for a midsize SUV and when we arrived, that was not what we got. We were forced to up grade to a 7-seat SUV for $50/ day. The alternative was a pick-up truck which we had no experience driving so unable to choose. The service provider was unprofessional as well, he was unapologetic towards the situation. When asking how to return the vehicle, he simply told us to drive back and someone will direct us, but we had no idea how to get to them from outside of the airport. When we asked about re-fueling the vehicle as we needed to return the vehicle with full tank as the part of the contract, he told us that Budget re-fuel for us. What he failed to do is to tell us that gas is set at a higher rate when refueled by Budget. We totally feel like we had been scam by Budget. What a terrible experience! Will not recommend Budget and its associated companies to our friends and family at all. I would give negative stars if I can do that.
