Reviews of Gibby's Electronic Supermarket in St. Catharines

This company likes to scrub negative reviews! I'm going to keep posting this review until they take action or at least stop scrubbing my review. I have a legit complaint and others should be warned. I'm talking to the BBB and a lawyer.

Beware of special orders!!!!! If they don't tell you beforehand that special orders can't be returned, you are stuck with an item you no longer want or can afford. They say the reason for the special order is because they don't stock it but they have 3 available and in stock on their website. So shady, it's sickening. I cancelled an install of a very pricey car audio system, but was forced to keep the $1500 (plus taxes) amplifier. $1700 is a lot of money for some people! I told them I was cash strapped from a sudden unfortunate event but that didn't seem to matter. I'm also stuck with a dash cam that was apparently "special order" as well but can be easily purchased online from other dealers. What a joke. Trying to sell it is impossible.

I've recently heard from others that this is Gibby's GAME and they will get you every time. Do yourself a favour and read the 1 star ratings! It's unbelievable that they'd rather have a 1 star review than make things right. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Somehow you still poached $2200 out of me. Never again!!!

DON'T BUY THE WARRANTY! DON'T DO BIZ HERE!!

When we built our new townhouse in St. Catharines, we made a real effort to buy locally. We purchased a 65" LG OLED TV from Gibby's for $5K and opted for the $1K 4 year extended warranty.

Going through the pandemic, we had the TV stationed to CNN almost continuously, and and shortly thereafter experienced "image retention". The CNN logo and "Breaking News" were burnt into the screen of our expensive TV.

Contacted Ian in service who really dicked us around for a few weeks, sent a tech out to only eventually to tell us that our $1K warranty did not cover "image retention", which is the most common problem associated with the LG OLED TVs.

Ian then told me they could fix the problem for $3,100, but in his opinion it would be better to just come buy another TV from them! Can you believe this Shi*??

I contacted LG directly and learned that the replacement screen cost 2K, and they are HAPPY to replace the screen on our TV for FREE, we will just have to pay the $250 labor charge.

Wow. That's a great deal vs. what Ian offered me.....looks like Gibby's was looking to make $$$ on all the angles, even trying to make another $1K on our repair. Not honoring their warranty, not reaching out to LG, just a bad, bad, scam-o-rama company.

Sometimes it's not good to buy local, especially with Gibby's Eectronics;
