Reviews of Tax Mechanic in Toronto

The Tax Mechanic does not deliver on their promises. I have been waiting since 2020 to go to Tax Court only to have Fraser cancel at the last moment in 2023. They also fail to respond to CRA letters unless you nudge them along. Perhaps they have a high client turnover and forget about the current customers so you leave. Prices are high for the services offered. They even gave me incorrect information about my disability letter as I called CRA directly to clarify and they did not call them at all.

AVOID AT ANY/ALL COST.

Most of these reviews must be bought. Read the one star reviews and they say the same thing: Once this firm gets your money they consistently fail to deliver anything and then ignore emails and phone calls.

This firm wasted countless hours of my time, and worse, four critical months, simply placating and ignoring me - there was literally NO progress made in these four months.

After many months and dozens of emails, I can confidently say that Tax Mechanic is a spectacularly dysfunctional organization with a toxic culture that has a complete absence of anything that looks like respect and care for their clients.

Their perpetual neglect created actual negligence that led to measurable damages. It cost me significantly. Don't make the mistake I made...

Save your time, money, headache, and sanity for a company that is respectable and truthful. It is obvious from dealing with this firm and Fraser Simpson (the, owner) that most of these reviews are purchased; thus the owners immediate praise. Meanwhile, the negative comments aren't addressed and flagged as "Spam" or "Fake". I can hopefully avoid anyone else going through the same process as I did with these clowns but stay away from this firm.
I don't know if they are overworked, unorganized, incompetent or borderline fraudulent but you might as well do it yourself for better service.
They have 2 - 3 staff working from home and a shared office membership downtown for infrastructure and if for some reason you have to do business with them as it is too late to pull back, do not give them any funds until you see results or proof of what they are saying is true. Don't take their word for it.; I won't go into detail on the particulars of my situation but feel free to message me if you have gone through a similar situation and need some advice. If this company answered to the Law Society of Canada or CPA Canada I am sure things would be different.
Please check your CRA or Tax Court case status independently at (https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency.html) or (https://www.tcc-cci.gc.ca) or call them as I did.
