This restaurant uses very expired food! I was recently told by one of the cooks at this restaurant that a can of peaches that was 4 years past the best before/expiry date was used for a catered order. I heard this right from the person/employee who used the peaches, this person knew they were that expired, so it's not like I heard it from someone who heard this from someone else who heard this from someone else kind of thing. Any owner or manager of a restaurant that would not have expired food tossed is not a restaurant you want to go to. Way too risky! It also raises a red flag as to what other unsafe things could be going on at this restaurant. An issue that warranted a call to the public health board. Not only was this irresponsible on the employer's end but it was also irresponsible on the employee's end who used this food, they should have refused to use it, especially if this employee has taken food safety they would know that contaminated food can look, smell, and taste normal. Just because something appears to be safe to consume doesn't mean it is. It states this right in food safety manuals like Ontario's. Two of the things that bacteria needs to grow is carbs and moisture which canned peaches is high in both so with those two things present it makes that food item a lot more vulnerable to bacterial growth. It's one thing if a person chooses to eat very expired food personally but when it comes to a business that is feeding the public this is just very reckless behavior putting people's health and safety at risk. I also don't think any paying customer who either eats in the restaurant or places a catered order expects to be receiving very expired food nor would they probably appreciate it. After finding this info out this is one restaurant I will never be eating at nor will I recommend it and I will be sharing this info as far and wide as I can.
