On the outside it looks wonderful, however as a former staff member I would never place my loved one in a facility such as this. The residents have next to no choice. They are treated as if they are children with no minds of their own. They are spoken to with nothing but disrespect, half of the residents do not even get a choice in what they wish to eat or wear. They are told what to do, and when to do it. It is sad. The facility is constantly short staffed and that is due to the treatment of their employees. If you do not treat the residents rudely, you are not liked. You are labeled as one with a poor work ethic, you are told you don’t complete tasks, when in reality you are just being kind to residents- spending an extra 5 minutes with them to help comb their hair, or apply their lipstick. The truth is that the organization has a good vision and idea of what an assisted living complex should be, but this facility not come close to what they wish the were. I do not doubt that others are what they seem to be, however the Management and Resident Assistants at Brighwater Tuxedo, are NOT the people you want to be “caring for” your loved ones.
